Popular vote loser Donald Trump has chosen Scott Pruitt to head the Environmental Protection Agency. Naturally, your first question should be, “In what way is this man corrupt, or otherwise totally unfit for his job?”
Well, Politico reports that Pruitt is the director of a nonprofit called the Rule of Law Defense Fund, an offshoot of the Republican Attorneys General Association. While the Fund is deliberately structured to allow it to keep its donors secret (because that’s how political corruption works), it is known to have received $175,000 in 2014 from Freedom Partners, an organization that handles political activity for right-wing billionaires and all-around scumbags the Koch Brothers.
Six Democratic members of the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee have written Pruitt a letter, formally requesting donor names, internal emails, and details of meetings at the Fund. “The confirmation process, starting with your responses to committee questions before your hearing, is an opportunity for you to dispel the notion that the advocacy you have undertaken on environmental issues as Attorney General of Oklahoma has been directed by and for the benefit of the energy industry,” they wrote.
As though his being a tool of the energy industry wasn’t the exact reason Trump picked him.
